The site for all Scots, Scots descendants and Scotophiles, right across the world

A light-hearted e-magazine with facts, figures, folklore, photographs; with lots of wee bits  of general info about Scotland - and some big bits. A site for folk to read, browse and, if you like - contribute to.

In WEE BITS, in The Mag., thre's an article on the correct colour of Blue for The Saltire WELCOME to Find it in Scotland. The site's navigation menu Main Headings are down the left-hand panel. Click on these to see what's in each one. Some sections have a LOT in them.

~ Buildings of Scotland (cont.) ~

Future buildings will be given upto a page for each, with a bit more detail and more pictures; we may have one for some of the subjects here; we will certainly have a featured page on the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore, covering as it does so much of the daily lives of Scots of long ago - and the not-so-long ago...

...(Wullie says)...I ventured into to the wee village school there, and went straight back to my own first days in class; the auld wudden desks were the same as my first - even to the series of carved initials under the lids - and the equipment - books, maps, the "Tawse" (the Strap - a leather strap for administering punishment), the chewing gum chipped off the desks - all redolent of my very early schooldays. Though my schooldays were not quite as long ago as this school, which is modelled on one from 1937.
