~Find it in Scotland~
"LAND OF MY HEART FOREVER...
...SCOTLAND THE BRAVE"
Find it, in Scotland ??? ...
...This Website is for Scots and
Scotophiles- where'er ye might be - by Scots, to Scots, from Scots. It's for Scots
abroad to meet other Scots - abroad, or at home in Scotland. It's for Scots
anywhere to glean a wee bit more about their own roots; to keep a finger on the
pulse of Scotland and things Scottish; to learn a bit more about your Language, Heritage,
Traditions...
...it's about History and Current Affairs;
Sports and Crafts; Art and Literature; Business and Pleasure, and how & where to find them... AND
it's one of the few sites to have it's own ongoing Magazine section, with regular updates about Scotland, Scots, and Things
Scottish.
...It's also for Scots to talk to other Scots, home and
abroad. Perhaps to try to find lost friends and relatives. We've set up a
link with an interactive social network section
- "Scot-talk"
- where members (membership is free) can Blog; post events,
photos, videos; set up their own groups (open AND by invitation only), talk in the Forums - just like
Facebook, U-tube, and others - except that it's intended - as is the rest of this site - to help promote the
Scots Heritage world-wide, and to encourage and stimulate Scots everywhere to talk to one another and find new
friends.
Scot-talk will also have up-to-date news
feeds, with the latest national news, and local news from all around the country.
And, to make life even easier for our regular readers, the
What's New section tells you exactly that, on a month-by-month
basis.
Our Magazine is filling with many and
varied items of interest and, like a paper-based magazine, will be ever- changing, as more items are added. Unlike a paper mag., though, ours will keep the old
items, so that each section keeps getting bigger; we simply put the new items at the tops of each section's
pages. And some of the magazine sections will have sub-sections, where the subject matter is well spread.
We also have a section for readers to contribute their own thoughts, or articles; see yourself in
print.
We'll be building and improving our"find it in Scotland" service. This section will have categories of items and services commonly sought after - like Scottish Arts &
Crafts, Scottish Gifts - some items less well known, like Bagpipe tuition on Skype - and a means for you to
ask us to help find specific commodities. We will offer a free editorial advert for any
valid, Scottish-based Arts or Crafts business (the decision as to validity must, however, rest
with us).
[If you
would like your business featured, use the e-mail link - info@finditinscotland.com - and send us info as to what you do, where you are. etc., and your website
URL.]
Genealogy: We're also setting up a section where
you will be able to 'advertise' to find lost friends and relatives; either those still in Scotland, or
those who've left the Homeland and live abroad (abroad, that is, to us here in Scotia; it's home to
them). But please note - we do not offer a genealogy service; we do not have the
resources for what is an exacting and very time-consuming service. We will however offer a section giving a
broad outline of what's involved, and some links to sites offering this service.
Around
Scotlandis The Section where the various and varied
Scottish regions will be invited totell you why a trip to Scotland is not complete
without a visit to see their beautiful area (we're still waiting for a response from
them)...
...and Scots-at-Arms will
cover the Fighting Scots in the UK Armed Forces, from the earliest Scottish Regiments, to the present-day Land, Sea
and Air Forces. There'll also be the facility for current and past serving members to set up their own groups - to
keep up-to-date and renew auld acquaintance - in Scot Talk.

?? WANT TO
ADVERTISE YOUR SCOTTISH SOCIETY - FOR FREE!
MILLIONS of Scots across the world belong to Scottish Societies; Burns Clubs, Caledonian
Societies, Scottish Country Country Dance Societies, Highland Games Associations, Pipes and Drums Societies -
thousands and thousands of groups of like-minded people, promoting their Scots Heritage.
A lot of these groups are known only to their own members, in their own local area. We believe the effort each puts in to
further the Spirit of Scotland could be recognised much further afield. Think of Alex and Morag, members of
the Auchenshoogle Burns Society, on their way to Canada - or USA, or New Zealand, or Oz, or Bahrain,
etc.etc. Wouldn't it be just grand if they knew where to contact a local Burns Society, in advance, to make new contacts and friends? And for those
coming to us from overseas to have local
contacts.
SO, we've set up a weblinks section to help make this happen. We
will offer site space for any properly-established Scots Societies, Associations, Groups, to advertise their
existence. Go to the Web site Links page to let YOUR society tell the world you're out
there. find it in scotland will be very happy to help.
